The Annapurna Base Camp Trek 14 Days with Sole Encounters Adventures is a rewarding Himalayan journey through the heart of the Annapurna Conservation Area in central Nepal. Starting and ending in Kathmandu, the trek begins from Nayapul or Birethanti, near the scenic city of Pokhara, and ascends through Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Chhomrong, and alpine valleys to reach Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna I (8,091 m), Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli. The trail offers a rich blend of natural beauty and culture, passing through Gurung and Magar villages, lush forests, and Buddhist landmarks.
Historically, Annapurna Base Camp was first explored by mountaineering expeditions in the 1950s, following the successful ascent of Annapurna I in 1950 by a French team, making it the first 8,000 meter peak ever climbed. Over time, the route evolved from a climbing base to one of the world’s most scenic and accessible high altitude trekking trails. Likewise, Ghorepani once served as a rest stop for ancient salt traders crossing between Nepal and Tibet and has become a beloved village for trekkers, especially those heading to Poon Hill, known for its stunning sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Trekkers walk an average of 5 to 7 hours per day on varied terrain. This moderate to strenuous trek is suitable for fit individuals and requires no technical climbing. The route is well paced for acclimatization and includes opportunities to spot Himalayan wildlife and soak in the Jhinu Danda hot springs.
Sole Encounters handles all logistics, including airport transfers, 3 star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and teahouse accommodation along the trail. Meals are not included by default to allow flexibility, though a full board upgrade is available. Transportation includes private vehicles, a tourist bus, and an optional domestic flight from Pokhara. A guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu is also included, covering historic UNESCO sites like Swayambhunath and Boudhanath.
Our experienced team includes licensed guides, trained porters, and assistant guides for larger groups. We limit group sizes to 14 trekkers for personalized service and responsible travel. As a locally owned company, Sole Encounters is committed to sustainability, cultural respect, and community support.
We also offer similar treks in the Annapurna region, including the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, Khopra Danda Trek, and the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake. Choose the trek that best matches your interests and let us take care of the rest.

Today, upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a Sole Encounters Adventures representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel, the lively tourist district of Kathmandu Valley. After check in and a brief rest, you will meet your trekking guide for a trip briefing to review the itinerary and prepare for the days ahead.
You can take some time to explore the streets of Thamel, use nearby ATMs, exchange currency, or pick up any last minute trekking gear. In the evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner at a local restaurant and relax before your adventure begins.
Kathmandu Valley, known for its ancient temples, royal palaces, and cultural landmarks, may be explored with your tour guide the following day as part of your sightseeing experience.
Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is a vibrant and bustling city that is full of history and culture. There are many interesting places to visit in Kathmandu, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa (also known as Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Before starting the trek, it is important to prepare and make necessary arrangements. In Kathmandu, you can purchase or rent any required trekking gear or equipment. It is also a good idea to consult with your guide to discuss the itinerary and ensure you have all necessary permits and documentation.
During your stay in Kathmandu, you can also acclimatize to the altitude by taking short walks or hikes around the city. This will help prepare you for the trek and reduce the risk of altitude sickness.
In addition to sightseeing and preparation, you can also experience the local culture by sampling traditional Nepali cuisine, attending cultural performances or festivals, and interacting with the friendly locals.
Today, take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes). Upon arrival at Pokhara Airport (820 m / 2,690 ft), our driver and trek crew will meet you and transfer you by jeep to Birethanti (1,025 m / 3,362 ft), a scenic drive of about 2.5 hours.
From Birethanti, begin your 4 to 5 hour trek to Ulleri (2,050 m / 6,726 ft), covering roughly 8 km. The trail starts gently along the river valley before ascending steep stone staircases through villages and forests. Expect a mix of flat paths, gradual climbs, and a steep uphill section toward the end.
You’ll stop for lunch at a teahouse along the way, enjoying views of terraced fields and lush hills. Ulleri is a Magar village known for its hilltop setting, warm hospitality, and surrounding rhododendron forests and birdlife.
Today, you’ll trek from Ulleri (2,000m / 6,562 ft) to Ghorepani (2,874m / 9,429 ft), covering about 13 km in 5-6 hours. The trail ascends through lush rhododendron and oak forests, with beautiful nature and occasional views of the Himalayas.
Ghorepani, once a rest stop for horse traders, is now a popular village among trekkers. It offers a mix of warm Magar hospitality and stunning mountain scenery. From here, you can see peaks like Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), and Nilgiri (7,061m). You’ll stay overnight in Ghorepani.
The next day includes an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m / 10,531 ft) for a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas. If the weather is very clear, you can also opt for a sunset hike instead-talk with your guide to decide the best time.
Today begins with an early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m / 10,531ft) for a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After enjoying the view, return to your teahouse in Ghorepani, finish packing, and have breakfast.
Then, start your 7-hour trek to Chuile (2,310m / 7,579ft), covering around 13 km (8 miles). The trail includes a steep descent through rhododendron forests, some flat and rolling sections, and occasional short climbs. Lunch is served along the way at a local teahouse.
This route is part of the historic Annapurna trail, once used by traders and now favored for its natural beauty and cultural charm.
Overnight: Teahouse in Chuile
Trek: 7 hrs / Distance: ~13 km (8 miles)
Today you’ll trek from Chuile to Upper Sinuwa (2,460m / 8,070ft), a journey of about 12 km (7.5 miles) taking 6-7 hours. The trail descends to the Kimrong Khola, crosses a suspension bridge, and climbs through Gurjung village to reach Chhomrong, a traditional Gurung village with historical ties to old trade routes.
After lunch in Chhomrong, descend to the Chhomrong Khola, cross another bridge, and make a final uphill push through forest to Upper Sinuwa. The trail offers a mix of forest, village life, and mountain views throughout.
Overnight: Teahouse in Upper Sinuwa
Trek: 6-7 hrs / Distance: ~12 km (7.5 miles)
Today, trek from Sinuwa to Himalaya at a relaxed pace, covering around 10 kilometers in 5 to 6 hours. The trail passes through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, rich in biodiversity such as birds, monkeys, and unique flora.
The trail conditions vary with sections of gentle ups and downs, narrow paths, and a few steep ascents through shaded forest. After about 3 hours, stop for lunch at Bamboo village, a peaceful rest point along the river.
From there, continue uphill through a serene valley to reach Himalaya (2,920 m / 9,580 ft), a small settlement with basic teahouses and beautiful views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South. Historically, this area served as a rest stop for early traders and porters heading deeper into the Annapurna region.
Today, trek from Himalaya to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m / 12,139 ft), covering approximately 8 kilometers in 5 hours. The trail ascends gradually through narrow ridges, rocky sections, and open valleys, passing Deurali and following the Modi Khola river.
As you gain elevation, the air gets thinner and there is a higher chance of feeling altitude effects, so it’s important to walk slowly, stay hydrated, and take short breaks along the way. Vegetation becomes sparse and the views open up dramatically.
Once you reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp, you’ll rest and spend the night at this scenic stop nestled beneath the sacred Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak, which remains unclimbed out of respect for its spiritual importance. The base camp offers stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and surrounding glaciers, making it a peaceful and awe-inspiring place to acclimatize before continuing to Annapurna Base Camp
Today, you will trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m / 13,550 ft), covering around 3 kilometers in about 3 hours. The trail ascends gradually through open alpine terrain, offering incredible views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers as you enter the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Walk slowly and take breaks to adjust to the higher altitude. Once you reach Annapurna Base Camp, you can hike around the area to enjoy sunset and sunrise views, take photos, and reflect on the journey. The base camp is surrounded by towering giants including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre.
Due to the limited number of teahouses at this altitude and the high number of trekkers, you may be required to share a room with other travelers. Despite the basic facilities, the experience of spending the night at one of the world’s most scenic high-altitude camps is truly unforgettable.
Today, descend from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310 m / 7,579 ft), a 7-hour trek covering approximately 12 kilometers. The trail retraces your steps through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, Himalaya, and Bamboo, with a mix of downhill, forest paths, and stone steps.
Walk carefully on steep sections and enjoy the changing scenery as you move from alpine landscapes back into lush forests. Lunch will be on the way, and you’ll arrive at Bamboo, a peaceful village surrounded by greenery, for an overnight stay in a teahouse.
Today, trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,760 m / 5,774 ft) over 5 to 6 hours, covering about 9 kilometers. The trail includes a mix of steep descents, forested paths, and a final climb up to Chhomrong before descending long stone steps to Jhinu Danda.
From your teahouse, it's about a 20-minute walk down to the natural hot springs, where you can relax by the river for a small entrance fee. This is a perfect way to unwind and enjoy your last night in the Himalayas, surrounded by peaceful forests and mountain views.
Today, take a 1-hour downhill walk from Jhinu Danda (1,780 m / 5,840 ft) to Siwai, then drive for 3 to 4 hours back to Pokhara (820 m / 2,690 ft). The trail follows quiet forest paths and terraced fields before meeting your vehicle at the road.
Back in Pokhara, check into your hotel and enjoy free time around Lakeside, a beautiful area by Phewa Lake known for its mountain views, cafes, shops, and relaxed atmosphere. You can also choose from optional adventure activities like boating, paragliding, or cycling. If you need help arranging anything, our team is happy to assist.
This evening marks your farewell from the trek, and if you wish to offer dinner, drinks, or tipping to your guide and porter team as a gesture of thanks, it will be warmly appreciated. We truly hope you had a memorable Himalayan experience with Sole Encounters Adventures.
Today, you will leave Pokhara and take a 7-hour scenic drive to Kathmandu (1,334 m / 4,377 ft) by tourist bus, traveling along the Prithvi Highway through river valleys, hillside towns, and terraced farmland.
If you prefer a faster return, we can arrange a 30-minute flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu for an additional cost. Just let us know in advance.
If you'd like to stay extra days in Pokhara, we’re happy to assist with hotel bookings, activities, or transportation arrangements. Once in Kathmandu, enjoy your final evening at leisure-relax, explore, or shop before your departure.
Today, your adventure in Nepal comes to a close. We hope you had a wonderful experience exploring the Himalayas and Nepal’s rich culture with us.
Before you leave, please consider sharing your feedback—it helps us grow and serve future travelers better. Be ready in your hotel lobby at least 3 hours before your international flight.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek are two of the most popular trekking routes in the Annapurna region of Nepal. They are often combined into a single itinerary to offer a richer cultural and scenic experience.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a shorter section that takes you through traditional Magar and Gurung villages, lush rhododendron forests, and up to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,531 ft)a famous viewpoint known for its spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. It is ideal for acclimatization and cultural immersion.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek continues deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a high glacial basin surrounded by towering peaks including Annapurna I (8,091 m) and Machhapuchhre (6,993 m). The trek leads you to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters (13,550 ft), offering breathtaking close-up views of the Himalayas.
The highest point on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is Annapurna Base Camp itself, at 4,130 meters (13,550 feet). If you're including the Ghorepani Poon Hill section, the maximum altitude there is 3,210 meters (10,531 feet).
The weather varies by season:
In spring (March to May), expect mild temperatures, blooming rhododendrons, and clear mountain views.
In autumn (September to November), the weather is generally dry and stable with excellent visibility.
Winter (December to February) can be cold with possible snow at higher elevations, but still trekable with proper gear.
Summer/monsoon (June to August) brings rain, slippery trails, and limited views, so it’s less ideal for trekking.
Always be prepared for sudden changes in mountain weather and carry appropriate clothing for both warm days and cold nights.
No, there are no ATMs or money exchange services on the trekking route. You should exchange or withdraw enough Nepali rupees in Kathmandu or Pokhara before the trek to cover meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, hot showers, and tips.
Yes, accommodations during the trek are provided in local teahouses or lodges, and you’ll receive three main meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Each meal also includes one hot drink (tea or coffee).
Additional snacks, extra beverages, or second hot drinks are not included and can be purchased at your own expense along the trail.
Yes, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is generally safe, especially when done through a registered trekking company like Sole Encounters Adventures. The trail is well-established and visited by thousands of trekkers every year.
For your safety, we follow strict protocols:
✅ All treks are led by licensed, experienced guides trained in first aid and altitude safety
✅ Daily health monitoring and a well-paced itinerary for proper acclimatization
✅ 24/7 communication with our support team during the trek
✅ Access to a first aid kit and emergency evacuation arrangements if needed
✅ Guides and porters assist with navigation, gear, and health monitoring, ensuring you’re never trekking alone
Traveling alone without a guide or porter is allowed, but done at your own risk. Independent trekkers are more vulnerable to getting lost, altitude sickness, or emergencies without support. For your safety, comfort, and peace of mind, we highly recommend trekking with a qualified guide and porter team.
Tipping is customary and a way to show appreciation to your guide and porters. A general guideline is 15–20% of the total trek cost, shared among the team. If you’d like to buy farewell dinner or drinks for your crew, it’s a generous and appreciated gesture.
The Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill Trek is considered a moderate to moderately strenuous trek. It does not require technical climbing skills, but you should be prepared for daily hikes of 5 to 7 hours, often involving steep stone steps, gradual ascents, and descents through forests and mountain terrain.
The Poon Hill section is easier and ideal for acclimatization, while the higher sections toward Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m / 13,550 ft) involve more altitude and longer walking days. With a well-paced itinerary, proper hydration, and a reasonable level of fitness, most trekkers in good health can complete this trek comfortably.
Our experienced guides ensure a safe and supportive journey by adjusting the pace and monitoring your condition throughout. No previous trekking experience is required, though some physical preparation is recommended.

Personal Expenses: Budget for snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi, charging, laundry, and souvenirs during the trek. These are not included in the package.

Traveling solo, I was a little nervous, but Sole Encounters Adventures made everything stress-free. Prashant and his team were quick to answer my questions before the trek, and on the trail, our guide Pasang always made sure I was comfortable. We shared stories with other trekkers at teahouses each evening, which made the experience more social and fun. The scenery constantly changed, from waterfalls and rice terraces to alpine landscapes. Base camp was cold but magical, and watching the sunrise over Annapurna I brought me to tears. I could not have asked for a better adventure.
